ABOUT

Microneedling is an effective rejuvenation treatment to treat various imperfections and restore the healthy, youthful appearance of skin. It works by using tiny needles to create micro channels through the skin, which triggers the natural wound-healing process and results in cell regeneration and collagen & elastin production.

The RAFFINE Device by 4T Medical is a CE/UKCA certified automatic microneedling therapy systemwhich is safe and effective for use on the face and body. It is just as effective as non-ablative treatments like IPL, CO2 Laser, and Fraxel in stimulating collagen and elastin production, and is ideal for the non-surgical treatment of various skin concerns including:

  • Fine lines & wrinkles

  • Sagging skin

  • Uneven texture

  • Acne scarring

  • Hyperpigmentation

  • Broken capillaries

  • Surgical scarring

  • Photo-damage

  • Hair loss

At SW, I combine my microneedling treatments with Celluma LED Light Therapy and Cliniccare professional skincare products to give you the best possible results.

Based in Sweden, CLINICCARE are leading experts in applied scientific cosmeceuticals that aim to help consumers ‘Look younger, longer’. These products combine the best of nature and science by bringing together botanical extracts, carefully chosen for their potency and specific benefits, with the latest advances in medical skincare. This unique combination of active ingredients delivers outstanding results and ensures the highest levels of quality, efficacy and safety.

YOUR TREATMENT

Many skin professionals offer microneedling and there are lots of devices on the market. With this kind of technology I believe it is important to stay up to date with the latest research. For example, it is still widely believed that needling for anti-ageing should involve penetration of up to 2mm on the face with the use of anaesthetic cream, causing localised bleeding. HOWEVER, the most recent evidence shows that anaesthetic cream inhibits the rejuvenation process and deeper dermal wounding is not only unnecessary to achieve the desired result, but carries risks of adverse reactions to the treatment.

Therefore, for treatment of common concerns like ageing, hyperpigmentation, texture and encouraging overall skin health, my preferred course of action is to treat the superficial layers more frequently with a range of 0.2mm-0.5mm, without the use of an anaesthetic and without causing bleeding. The exception to this is the treatment of severe scarring and hair loss, where controlled wounding may be required at a deeper level.

It is also important to PREPARE with the appropriate active skincare in order to give your skin the best chance to heal itself. An under-prepared skin will not regenerate as efficiently as one with a healthy barrier and adequate supply of collagen and elastin. This looks different for every client and skin concern, but most people should expect to use a consistent homecare regime of selected actives for at least three months prior to a course of needling.

Once you are ready to go, the SW microneedling treatment consists of the following protocol:

  • Skin is cleansed and sterilised.

  • Microneedling is carried out with the Raffine device using a sterile, single-use needle cartridge. A sterile Cliniccare serum containing growth factors and high percentage hyaluronic acid will be applied throughout the needling process.

  • The Celluma LED device is then used to encourage healing, reduce bacteria and soothe redness & inflammation.

  • A cooling, sterile Cliniccare sheet mask soaked in growth factor and hyaluronic acid serum is applied to encourage rejuvenation and calm the skin while you enjoy a relaxing shoulder massage.

  • You will take home the remaining serum to apply in the first 24-48 hours.

It is recommended to have a course of six treatments to achieve the best outcome, although this number may vary depending on the skin concern. The production and maturation of collagen takes time so results are not immediate, with some clients seeing results up to a year after their course finishes. Frequency of treatments may be between 2 and 4 weeks, depending on the skin concern, and it may suit clients to have a customised treatment plan combining chemical peels and bespoke facials.
