Dermaviduals was developed in 1994 by Dr Hans Lautenschläger, an international leader in pharmacology and chemistry. Lautenschläger and his team developed a customisable brand designed to optimally maintain the natural skin barrier and treat the individual, rather than creating a blanket range of cosmetic products.

The ethos of the brand is centred in CORNEOTHERAPY. This scientific approach to skin care was first coined in the 1960s by dermatologist Professor Albert Kligman. Corneotherapy represents the preventative and corrective measures used to heal and preserve the uppermost layer of the skin: the stratum corneum. The health of this layer is compromised by various intrinsic and extrinsic factors of life, which leads to the common skin concerns we all experience. The corneotherapeutic approach preserves the skin's barrier defence with products that mimic the skin's cell structure and function.

Dermaviduals products are free from emulsifiers, perfumes, preservatives, mineral oils and silicones, and are formulated with a skin-identical composition and structure.
